The confluence of Liberty Village, King West, Queen West, and Parkdale is one of the most vibrant and colorful areas in the GTA.
Pinedale Properties and Lifetime Developments have chosen the keystone of this area – the intersection of King and Dufferin – as the setting for their new 14 story XO Condos.
XO – designed by Core Architects in association with Turner Fleischer Architects – will feature 10,000 square feet of premium retail space along with nearly 300 one, two and three-bedroom suites starting in the low $400,000 range.
While the design for the project advanced through several iterations, the most recent has met with the approval of the Toronto Design Review Panel (TDRP) and is currently in pre-construction.
The final design integrates aspects of the local architectural heritage the TDRP were keen to preserve, while embracing an early 20th-century building that occupies the corner lot.
The XO tower will have a distinctive entryway comprised of a series of wooden arches that transect the lobby. That lobby will also feature Tomas Pearce designed amenities, providing residents and visitors their first glimpse of what is in store in the units themselves.
Those units will feature 9-foot ceilings, fully appointed modern kitchens with stainless steel appliances and, in some units, floor to ceiling windows.
While the entryway acts to set the stage for the stunning condo interiors, it is not the only public space of note in the development.
All told there will be more than 6,500 square feet of resident amenities on the 2nd floor including a fitness club, yoga spaces, a kids’ play zone, a gaming and entertainment lounge and an outdoor terrace that offers sunset views.
There will also be a state of the art co-working space called the “Think Tank.”
The principles at Pinedale Properties and Lifetime Development chose the name XO after falling in love with the neighborhood.
They were taken by its authenticity, its nearly ideal location, the charm of the streetcars, and the compelling mix of restaurants and night life.
The entire area, including Liberty Village, King West et al has been experiencing what can only be called a renaissance in recent years.
Finally emerging from decades of anonymity to take its rightful place on the GTA stage.
